Matching carriers with qualified program opportunities

Collins is one of the most active brokers in the U.S. program market, ranking in the top five among intermediaries handling program business. We introduce program managers, including managing general agents (MGAs) and managing general underwriters (MGUs), to insurers and reinsurers. We match the two based on our knowledge of the specific expertise of program managers and the appetites and interests of carriers.
Collins periodically provides carriers with a database of qualified programs. These emanate from several of the leading MGAs in the United States. Typically, this database offers carriers more than 30 program opportunities.
We have a strong reputation among carriers for our careful selectivity in introducing programs; we do not "shotgun" them to the market. Collins has successfully completed programs with several major carriers across the United States.
We work closely with carriers to develop an accurate, current and thorough understanding of their specific program business interests. We assist program carriers with accurate forecasts of how new programs will affect their bottom lines. In many instances, it may be advantageous for carriers to "segment out" homogenous books of business and market them as programs. We assist carriers in identifying such opportunities and in matching them to the best qualified program managers.
We assist MGAs and MGUs with our knowledge of the program business appetites of insurers and reinsurers. We also assist them with such services as:

  • Property risk management/aggregate exposure management
  • Casualty risk management
  • Rating agency consulting and financial risk management.
  • Submission creation and distribution.
  • Program structuring, premium and loss history data collection and analysis, identification of third-party administrators and system providers.

In our program experience, we have worked with many carriers who previously weren't active in program business, persuading them to provide issuing facilities to MGAs. This success, we believe, is a result of our reputation within the program marketplace.
