Professional Background
Mr. Ott began his career as a broker with E.W. Blanch Co. in 1989.
He joined Collins in 2000 as a senior vice president, and led the company's efforts in the healthcare and professional liability markets.
Mr. Ott established Collins' professional liability practice and led it from a "startup" position to preeminence in the marketplace. Mr. Ott assembled a team of 12 brokers with significant expertise in that line. In just a few years, Collins became the leading broker of medical professional liability reinsurance in the United States.
The practice continues to expand its business in medical liability as well as other areas of professional liability, including firms that provide errors and omissions coverage to lawyers, accountants, architects and other professionals.
Mr. Ott has been a member of the Professional Liability Underwriting Society (PLUS) for more than a decade, serving on committees of the Society.
He holds a bachelor's degree from Concordia College, Moorhead, Minnesota, and the Associate in Reinsurance (ARe) designation.
